Spring 2021 | S TAT I O N E R Y T R E N D S 28 28 WINTER Holiday What's Hot: Last year, "Christmas" and "home" became nearly synonymous, acknowledged Rachel Quinn, graphic designer, PrintsWell. "We saw a big theme of 'Home for the Holidays' and family photos taken at home. No need for a formal family photo shoot. Our Home for the Holidays Photo Card was a best seller this year. We also saw a surge in the family photo cards, so much that we designed a whole line of pet-centered holiday designs." Monika Brandrup, vice president, creative director, Up With Paper, U W P Luxe and Jumping Jack Press, integrated this concept into several dimensional card offerings under her brand umbrella. One design, Cats and Gifts, depicts a cozy homey holiday scene for a sense of security, warmth and calm. Another, Christmas Gathering, presents a small get together of animals and Santa to allude to the idea of intimate gatherings and sticking together. Also look for: Blush to pink accents accenting or replacing traditional reds, Brandrup added. "Colors are softer and delicately muted." Tried and True: "Our best sellers this year stuck to traditional holiday colors such as green, red and gold on clean white backgrounds for a modern yet traditional feel," detailed Quinn. Brandrup also cited several fun motifs running their selections. Greenery has a focus on winter bouquets on a dark background, with the copy serving as an accent; Sweaters add a warming graphic touch; and ornaments and baubles are especially receiving creative treatments and special finishes.
